Rhoda J Bailey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rhoda Jane (Hunt) Bailey, 74, of Millville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, under the care of hospice on Wednesday July 6, 2022. She was born in 1947 to Buck and Betty (Welden) Hunt in Bridgeton. After some time in Oklahoma, she was ultimately raised in California. She graduated from Alta Loma High School in 1966. She returned to New Jersey in the early 1970’s, where she met and married her husband, Craig Bailey. They lived in Oklahoma and Louisiana before permanently setting in Millville in 1986. She returned to college at 46 years old to become a nurse. She had too many accomplishments to list here, but she was especially proud of her work in end-of-life care, and retired from Holy Redeemer Hospice in 2012. Although retired and diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, she never stopped helping people. Family and friends often looked to her for medical advice, as well as general pearls of wisdom, also appreciated for her brutal honesty, her overwhelming compassion, and her ability to tell you to go to hell and have you looking forward to the trip. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 22 years, M. Craig Bailey, grandsons Justin Lore and Stephen Harris, brother-in-law Gregory Winkler, and friends Zina Chiola, Doris Sanza, Nancy Erickson, and Wayne Jones. She is survived by her brothers Leon Hunt and Buck Hunt, her son, Eric Dyerly (Regina), and her daughter Donna Bailey Weaver (Paul) as well as daughters, Cindy Bailey Lore (Rob), Lori Bailey Harris (Jerry), Lesley McCormick Cook (Kenny), and son Stephen Bailey (Karen), 19 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, aunts, friends, her best friend Beverly Jones, and tons of kids who called her “Mama” through the years. She would want everyone to know how much she hated Donald Trump, and how relieved she is to never have to wear pants again. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 12th at Hoffman Funeral Homes 2507 High Street Port Norris, with a visitation to start at 10 and service to start at noon In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter 1244 N Delsea Dr. Vineland, NJ 08360 or a charity of your choice.
