John W. Feltes Jr.

December 7, 1934 - April 4, 2017

JOHN W. “JACK” FELTES, JR. 82, of Port Elizabeth died Tuesday morning at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Vineland, he was the son of the late John W. and Katherine Mixner Feltes. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan M. Fitzgerald Feltes. He was a Sergent U.S. Marine Corps and returned to Millville to cofound the American Legion Rescue Squad and later was renamed to Millville Rescue Squad and remained a lifetime member. He retired after over 25 years of service as the Director of Public Works for Cumberland County. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, a lifetime member of the Port Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company, and was heavily involved in local politics. He served 27 years on the Township committee and served as Mayor or Maurice River Township for 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Joan, and sister Joan Shelton and her husband Ken, children, John E. Feltes, Sr. and his wife Janette, James Feltes and his wife Sandra, and Jacqueline Rascone and her husband Jeffrey, grandchildren, Kimberly and her spouse Brandon, John , Christina, Brittany, Dominic, Jeramiah, Jeffrey, Mason, and Malorie. Great grandchildren, Brandon and Robert, nephew Kenneth Shelton and his wife Kathy, their children Kenneth and Keith. Niece Denise Gallo and her husband John, and their children, Jamie and John. He was predeceased by his twin brother Bruce Feltes and step brother Victor VanLeer. Funeral Services will be held at the Port Elizabeth United Methodist Church 142 Port Elizabeth Cumberland Rd. Port Elizabeth on Saturday Apirl 8, 2017 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Philip Pelphery officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Memorial donations may be made to the Port Elizabeth Fire Company P.O.
