Charles W. “Peck” Chance, Sr., 67, of the Cumberland section of Maurice River Twp. passed away surrounded by his family on Friday evening January 20, 2017 at home. Peck was born in Sea Isle City, raised in Delmont, NJ and had resided in Cumberland for over 25 yrs. He was the son of the late Charles Chance and Brother of the late Ruth Ann Duffy. Before retiring in 2014, Peck was employed as a Plant Operator for Hanson Aggregate at the Cedar Lake Division. He had previously been employed by Jesse Morie for many years. He was an active member of the Cumberland Fire –Rescue Station #23 where he was an Engineer. He loved hunting, racing, bowling, coaching baseball but most of all he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He is survived by his wife of 37 yrs.; Denise (nee Hickman) 6 children; Vicki Joslin, Paulette Messier, Mary Hickman, Charles Chance Jr, Wife Deann, Michelle Pitts Husband Mike & April Pettit, Husband William. 13 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren, His mother; Ruth Ann Chance (nee Peterson). 1 brother; Kenny Chance, Wife Kathy as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives & friends will be received on Wednesday 1/25 from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 643 Main St. Leesburg, NJ where his funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM.
