Alberta Coombs Felmey

ALBERTA GETSINGER COOMBS, born June 4, 1918, died October 4, 2018 at the age of 100. Born on the Coombs Dairy Farm to John Leslie and Bertha Reick Coombs. She was a graduate of Millville High School Class of 1935. She was the oldest of 3 children, sister Helen Shea and Charles Coombs. She married Thomas Felmey (past Postmaster) in 1937. Alberta worked at the hosiery mill during WWII. In the late 50’s till 1965, she was the bookkeeper for Coombs Dairies. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Mary and Martha Guild, and was the secretary for the Woman’s Club for over 30 years. Her husband Thomas died in 1990. Alberta lived in her home in Oakland Estates for 60 years. Her children were Carole Lee Hinson (deceased), and Thomas Connolly. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Hoffman Funeral Homes 2507 High St. Port Norris on Wednesday October 10, 2018 from 9:45-10:15 AM followed by a graveside service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
